"Why Some"

The gallery is proud to present, "Why Some?" A collection of stark present-day photographs by Jewish Community Center of Metropolitan Detroit Executive Director Mark A. Lit. The exhibit gives you a full account of JCCA trip to Poland through the lens of our beloved leader. Hiding at times behind this lens, Mark tells a story, one that sometimes is hard to listen to, but must be told. In the upper gallery we have a wonderful historical exhibit sponsored by The Blavatinik Archives on the Russian Jewish soldiers, the first to liberate the concentration camps during WWII. The exhibit runs through September 23rd.

Kindness CAN Make A Difference

"Kindness CAN Make A Difference," opened to raved reviews. Visit the gallery and check out these amazing sculptures created out of non-perishable food. At the end of the exhibit, all food will be donated to Yad Ezra and Forgotten Harvest. Food donations will continue through the close of the exhibit. CAJM in Detroit

The Council of American Jewish Museums held their annual conference in Detroit, and we were the hosts! What an honor and a privlidge to show 80 museum professionals around amazing Cultural Detroit. We went to The Motown Museum, Cranbrook, The Holocause Center, The JCC, Temple Israel, our gallery of course, The Henry Ford, The Arab American Museum, The Charles H Wright Museum and the DIA. What an amazing 3 days!

CALLING ALL ARTISTS!!!!! Interested in being part of our next exhibit "Project Runway Detroit?" We are looking for artists to create a work of fashionable art on these wooden bracelets. Message us or call the gallery to get yours! We have given half of the 400 away...hurry up and get yours!

Purses, Shoes & Mah Jong A Few of Our Favorite Things

Did I mention there are shoes in this exhibit? Did I mention there are purses too! Oh wait, I can't forget Mah Jong. Yes, Purses, Shoes & Mah Jong opened to rave reviews this past Sunday. The exhibit runs through December 22nd so make sure you stop by for a visit.

Happy 20th anniversary to us!

Yes you read that right! the Janice Charach Gallery turned 20 years old this summer. And what better way to celebrate by inviting the artists from previous years to show in an exhibit. Here are some pictures from the opening.

Today was the felted purse program at the gallery. And all I can say is WOW, WOW, WOW! Ladies you truly out did yourself! Each purse was handmade and let's talk about TLC. I was truly blown away at how beautiful each and everyone of these purses came out! One participant even said, "Thanks so much for doing this program. It was so much fun! The best! I feel like a kid again"! Looks like more of these kind of programs will definitely be in our future!
