Not Your Grandma's Fiber Show

WOW!!!! What an opening! Hundreds of people came out this past Sunday to see what the Free Press is calling an Avant Guard Fiber Spectacular! We had an added bonus of a loom and weaving demonstration by Michael Daitch which was magnificent. THANKS MICHAEL!!!! A special thank you to everyone whose continual support of our gallery allows us to keep creating such amazing exhibits! The exhibit runs thru March 3rd.

Not Your Grandma's Fiber Show

Already the Free Press is calling this show Avant Guard. Join us this Sunday January 16th from 1-4PM for a champagne reception.

The exhibit features wall pieces, quilts, clothing, fiber sculptures and so much more. The pieces will have a couple of things in common — they will be avant-garde and ecclectic.

We want to give a whole new meaning to what fiber art is!!!

Brooks Harris Stevens, a guest curator from Eastern Michigan University, said fiber art is derived from the tradition of textile arts. It’s a flexible genre that doesn’t have to fit the dichotomy of being only functional or only decorative.

She will display her work, and EMU student's work based on concepts using textile materials and a diversity of techniques. “This keeps people interested, and at the same time, curious as to how things can be pushed further for the next piece,” she said.

Cake in the gallery?

Why not. Hillary and I are hard at work, or wait maybe that is we are "fun" at work painting a giant birthday cake in honor of our upcoming 20th year in business! Here is a sneak peak....can't wait to see how it comes out!

Elevator!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The gallery has installed a much needed elevator to assist visitors up to our wonderful second level. Here are some pictures of the construction!

JEWS WHO ROCK!

This exhibit has been quite a ride! Rock 'n' Roll style baby! The exhibit opened with Lynn Goldsmith celebrity photographer telling us all about her interesting life(to say the least) of photo shoots with celebrities! Her images have appeared on more then 100 record covers, and in Time, Newsweek and Vanity Fair.

The exhibit also features rock and roll memorabilia for sale as well as Lynn's photos for sale of many of the Jews who rock!

The exhibit runs thru December 23rd

The Green Show

Renewing, reusing and recreating Art through recycled materials.


The gallery opening was wonderful. We had so many people in the gallery, it was hard to even step back and enjoy the artwork. So if you came to the opening, you have to come back for a closer look! Here are some pictures of what these clever artists came up with!

In celebration of Tu B' Av, the Festival of Love over 150 local and national artists created hearts for our next exhibit. Each heart started out the same and what the artists did next was totally up to them.

The results were amazing and here are a few to preview.
